It’s time for Animaniacs, and we’re zany to the max! This week Raven and Campbell talk about prolific voice actors, impressive musical scores, and explain why Campbell is the way he is in the 1999 animated film, Wakko’s Wish.
Dot's Hot Toddy (Call it a Dottie Toddy and you die) Recipe:
-1oz dark spiced rum
-0.5oz amaretto
-0.5oz cherry simple syrup
-1 cinnamon stick
-6-8 oz hot water
-a generous lemon wedge
-honey to taste
Pour liquors, syrup, cinnamon in a glass. Add hot water then stir in honey till dissolved. Add lemon wedge and enjoy

Don’t ride elephants. This week, Raven and Campbell talk about exploitation, modern musical numbers, and almost having a good message in the 2017 musical film The Greatest Showman.
The Balancing Act Recipe:
- 1 oz vodka, plain or flavor of choice
- 0.5 oz blue curacao
- 0.5 oz Campari
- 1 oz Grenadine
- 1.5 oz strawberry liqueur
- 1 oz honey-brown sugar simple syrup
Combine blue curacao and vodka in a small container and set aside. Combine strawberry liqueur, grenadine, and campari in a tumbler then add ice. Using a spoon, slowly pour the syrup onto the bottom layer, followed by the vodka mixture.
Simple Syrup Recipe:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup honey
- ¼ cup brown sugar, dark or light
Add water to a saucepan and bring to a low boil. Reduce heat to a simmer, add brown sugar, and stir until fully dissolved. Remove from heat and add honey, stirring until fully combined. Leave to cool.

One day more, another drink, another musical. This week Raven and Campbell are joined by the former TV host of Smartkids and the best lab mate a grad student could ask for, Laurinda! While trying not to cry, together they discuss 19th century France, the merits of sing-talking, and how acting and singing can elevate each other in the 2012 film adaptation of Les Misérables (Part 1 of 2).

French 24601 Recipe:
- 1.5 oz gin
- 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
- 0.5 oz apricot-thyme simple syrup
- Champagne
Mix gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Strain into a flute and top with champagne.

Wow, 40, one half of the ingredients to a sidewalk slammer (don’t ask). This week, Raven and Campbell take it to television. Together they flex their medical tv knowledge and Campbell has a breakdown while watching “My Musical” from Scrubs and “The Nightman Cometh” from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Appletini Recipe:
- 1 ½ oz vodka
- 1 ½ oz apple schnapps
- 1 oz apple cider
- ¼ to ½ oz lemon juice
Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Strain into a martini glass
Baby's Bottle:- 2 cups milk of choice
- 1 cup cream liqueur
- 1/4 cup whiskey
- 1/4 cup honey
Add milk and cream liqueur to a small saucepan and heat thoroughly over medium-high heat, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and add honey and whiskey, stirring slowly until combined. Leave to cool and serve lukewarm.

Gaslight. Gatekeep. Girlboss. This week Raven and Campbell are fully in love with Julie Andrews. From lying to children to being a powerful sorcerer, together they discuss the practically perfect way to get kids in line in the 1964 musical film, Mary Poppins.
Jolly Holiday Recipe:
- 2 oz London dry gin
- ½ oz lemon juice
- Spoonful of lavender Earl Grey simple syrup
- Fresh mint
Combine in a shaker with ice and strain into a tea cup. Top with soda water.

In this jolly and somewhat spooky special, Raven and Campbell exchange gifts, talk about seasonal mass murder, and discuss appreciation versus appropriation in the 1993 animated musical, The Nightmare Before Christmas. We hope our Boozicals friends and family (that’s y'all) have a safe and happy holiday this season. Merry Crimus!
Jack’s La-mint Martini Recipe:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 5 cups milk (use half-and-half if you like it rich)
- 1 1/2 cups cream liqueur
- 1 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
- 1/4 cup vodka
- 1/4 cup peppermint schnapps
- 1 cup water
Combine water, cocoa, and sugar in a pot and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low and add remaining ingredients. Serve warm in a martini glass.

Literally breathless from this movie. This week Raven and Campbell have so much love for this musical and each other. Together they discuss black excellence, The Supremes, and the incredible soundtrack from the 2006 musical film, Dreamgirls.
The Black Girl Magic Recipe:
- 1.5 oz cold water
- 1 oz chilled Hennessy
- 0.25 oz grenadine
- 0.25 oz blue curacao
- 0.5 oz Alize
- 0.5 oz peach vodka
- frozen grape juice cubes
Combine water and liquors in a shaker with ice. Add two grape juice ice cubes to a frosted tumbler or margarita glass. Slowly pour cocktail mixture over ice cubes. Garnish with a lemon slice.
