The Masquerade Recipe:
- 1.5 oz whiskey or bourbon
- 1.5-2 oz 100% black cherry juice
- 0.5 oz black pepper simple syrup*
- 3-4 dashes of angostura bitters
- fresh orange zest
- White chocolate phantom mask**
Add syrup, bitters, liquor, and juice to a chilled rocks glass and stir. Add a cocktail ice cube and grate some fresh orange zest on top. Place white chocolate mask on top and enjoy!
*Add 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Bring to a boil until sugar is dissolved. Add 2 tbsp fresh ground pepper and mix to combine. Remove from heat and cool completely.
**Chop 8-12 oz of white chocolate. Place ~2/3 of white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Heat for 8-10 seconds and stir thoroughly (for around the same amount of time). Repeat until all the white chocolate is melted. Once melted, add small amounts of remaining chocolate and stir thoroughly. Continue until no more solid white chocolate will blend. Pour the liquid white chocolate into a piping or Ziploc bag, then pipe a mask onto some parchment paper. Allow to cool completely.
